I mentioned before in a previous post about how many sock animals I’ve been making, and there’s now more on that list. But now, there’s even more things that I can make as I have a new book – Happy Gloves! It’s a book about different things that you can make from gloves! Now, this is the perfect present from me, although I worry about how many gloves I will start hoarding, I don’t want to show you how many drawers of new socks I have…!
I mentioned in my earlier blog New Ideas that I was going to start giving some new thing a go. So I’ve made my first cushion! There are definitely a few things that need to be tweaked, I made the cushion cover slightly to small for the size cushion. A rooky mistake! As you can see from the photo, the back doesn’t quite meet – quite an important part!
I chose to make an envelope back cushion, with french seams which I made completely by hand. I used patchwork squares for the front, using a border of green squares around the edge. I recently made a woodland themed quilt for a giveaway winner on my Facebook page, so I took inspiration from that and continued it on with the cushion. I also used interface on the fabric to give it a thicker, more luxurious feel.
If you’re on Instagram and have spotted me on there (@Quilty_as_sin) you may have seen that I’m not just a fan of sewing patchwork quilts, but I also love cross stitch. It’s quite a recent love after I was given a subscription to a cross stitch magazine and I learnt what to do. I was hooked and it really helps me take my mind off things, especially if I’m having a bad day pain wise, or I’m finding a quilt particularly tricky.
